Green in more ways than one #GoGreen

The Preparation Group’s equipment has always been green, but it doesn’t end there. It has employed numerous initiatives to reduce its impact on the environment; recycling, upcycling and through its sustainable flooring solutions.

Says Lesley Collins BDM, ‘At our office, we have joined Walkers® crisp packet recycling scheme and alarmingly have already collected hundreds of empty bags to be made into new recycled products. We have also enrolled with ‘Every Can Counts’, recycling our empty drinks cans. They are melted down and endlessly reused with no loss of quality, in what’s known as ‘closed-loop’ recycling. For everything else, the company employs the services of Ellgia, an organisation working towards ‘Zero waste to landfill.’’

‘Our surface preparation machines are built from high-grade steel and made to last. Where we do have redundant components and accessories our MD’s father, John Glew, upcycles them into fantastic sculptures and has exhibited them up and down the country.’

‘When preparing floors, we are always looking at more eco-friendly solutions. Polished concrete is one sustainable choice because it makes use of the materials already present and is something to consider when building or modernizing towards a more “green” solution. When it comes to cleaning and maintaining hard floors, our Storm Diamond Pads were developed as a two-fold sustainable solution. They hygienically clean and polish floors without any environmentally unsound chemicals, waxes and polishes and are also reusable and double-sided. A single pad cleans thousands of square metres of floor surfaces with just water. This means no pollutants, a significant reduction in the levels of waste and cost savings too. Our message is a simple one. Go green!’
