Many Heads Are Better Than One – June 10
The successful application and durability of screeds, resins and coatings is dependent on a sound base. Preparing the surface with a multi-head grind system as opposed to traditional surface preparation methods will result in a flat, smooth and blemish free floor.
When preparing a floor prior to coating, grinding is often the most effective method. Unlike shotblasting which leaves an open texture with some track lines, grinding gives a flat, smooth and blemish free floor.
As a result screeds, resin or coatings can be applied thinner, saving time and money and the finish is smoother and more durable, as the subfloor has no high spots to distort the surface or wear through.
A grinder with a multi-head grind system, such as The Preparation Group's PPC3030 Quadruple Plus Machine is best. Here diamonds cut randomly over a large area, resulting in flatter floors and no linear tracking marks, tackling a range of uneven and tough surfaces that would defeat most planetary grinders.
The PPC3030's robust steel gear-drive design requires minimal maintenance and is far more resilient than belt driven counterparts and are the preferred choice for contractors for grinding and polishing epoxy, terrazzo, granite, marble, stone and concrete, smoothing and polishing concrete and removing mastics, latex, adhesives, coatings and self-levellers.
