The Latest Cost Saving Innovations In Adhesive Removal – Nov 10
The adhesive left behind after the removal of sheet vinyl and tiles, carpet and old flooring systems has always been a problem for flooring contractors. If standard grinding accessories are used, they generate surface heat which makes the adhesive soft and sticky resulting in clogging and frequent stops.
To solve this, The Preparation Group has introduced a brand new range of innovative, highly efficient, polycrystalline diamond (PCD) discs and shoes that scrape rather than grind without generating surface heat. The PCD's cutting edges remain clear - adhesive being continuously rolled up and ejected for easy disposal.
The new PCD discs consist of a cup disc onto which fit interchangeable outer PCD (polycrystalline diamond) rings. Highly effective, this accessory not only offers time savings but also considerable cost savings and less wastage. There are two rings available; 6 Piece for the removal of thick coatings and 18 Piece for the removal of thin adhesives and paint.
The new PCD shoes offer long life and high thermal stability. These are available in Double Tooth, for the removal of thick materials e.g. carpet backing and Triple Tooth, for the removal of thin coatings e.g. adhesive, and a closer profile.
The Preparation Group's PCD discs and shoes have many additional uses including the removal of other soft thick materials from latex screeds through to certain asphalts. The PCD discs fit a wide range of hand grinders and the PCD shoes are designed to fit most multi-head grinders.
One contractor who switched to PCD shoes reported that before fitting them they were clearing 50m2 of adhesive in a night shift. After fitting them, this immediately rose to 500m2. Proving that for all cost-conscious contractors faced with removing old adhesives, there really can be no other option.
