Diamond Pads Prove Ideal For Tiling Specialist JAN 2011
The Preparation Group's SFD surface finishing pads are successfully tackling a wide range of floor preparation problems for leading tiling specialist A.Andrews.
Ideally suited to grind, clean, maintain and shine, resin floor surfaces, terrazzo, marble, natural stone concrete, and vinyl, The Preparation Group's SFD Surface Finishing Diamond Pads provide optimum cleaning and polishing results.
Unlike similar products, the resin diamond dots on the SFDs are bonded onto the pads. This makes them highly durable- grinding, keying, texturing, sanding and polishing without clogging. They are the only pad system capable of grinding and polishing a floor from start to finish, not just refurbishing previously finished surfaces. Cost effective, and environmentally friendly the floor is cleaned consistently without the need for harsh chemical cleaners, waxes or polishes.
One of The Preparation Group's customers experiencing the benefits of the SFDs is A. Andrews and Sons (marbles & tiles) Ltd of Leeds. Its Contracting Division remains at the forefront of the tiling industry, tackling even the most complex and demanding contracts involving terrazzo, ceramics and marble for leading shopping centres, airports, supermarkets, public buildings and corporate headquarters.
Focused on delivering a service and quality of finish that is second to none, The SFDs were a natural addition to A. Andrew's contract equipment. The company purchased the pads with an STG machine, and have been very pleased with the final results.
The versatile system has proven successful and has been used by the company in a college changing area and toilet to prepare a terrazzo floor following the removal of carpet, and on refurbishment projects for a leading supermarket chain to rejuvenate terrazzo tiles after shelving had been repositioned.
They are designed to fit The Preparation Group's STG machine, along with most other types of single head grinder/polishers, auto scrubbing and polishing machines. They are available in a range of grades from 100 to 3000 grit, the selection depending on the condition and type of surface.
The SFD system is a staged process involving working up through the grit sizes, to achieve the desired finish. After primary grinding to remove deep scratches, uneven spots or joints, the cleaning and polishing action produces a high gloss finish on new or old concrete, stone, marble and terrazzo surfaces.
Other benefits of SFDs are that they are easy to change without the need for tools, adjust to irregularities in the floor, can be used either wet or dry for a smooth textured finish and are ideal for small areas and even edgework.
